Cycling has been made easy in Finland. There are bike hire outlets throughout the country, the roads are superb for cycling, with an abundance of cycle lanes that allow you to travel easily even through the larger cities, and many localities have designed scenic routes especially for cyclists. The flatness of the south western islands and Bothnia coast make them ideal regions for cycling, while a decent bike will enable you to manage the hills elsewhere without difficulty.
Finnish golfers come home from work for dinner at five. Then off to the course to tee off - even as late as eight o'clock. And when they sink that last 30-footer at 12 midnight, the sun is still shining bright. But you will be on vacation. Get a round in before lunch and another eighteen holes in the afternoon. Have some dinner, relax in the sauna, and practice your putting under the midnight sun.
Finland straddles the Arctic Circle. In the North, the sun shines non-stop from June till August. In Southern Finland the June sun shines twenty-one hours a day, with a few hours of twilight in between. So you can head for the greens almost anytime you want. These long days also mean that not everyone is going to want to tee off at the same time. There are far fewer players per course than in most other golfing countries.
Finland is the real Winter Wonderland. With excellent downhill skiing for intermediate and beginner levels and hundreds of kilometres of meticulously maintained cross-country tracks in almost every resort, you actually would not need anything else to do.
